Following the construction of the new building of the “Dr. Fran Mihaljević” hospital, we toured the facilities of Jedinstvo d.o.o. Krapina, which is being built together with ING GRAD d.d. – it includes building A of the future central complex of the “Dr. Fran Mihaljević” Clinic for Infectious Diseases in Zagreb. On site, we were introduced to the steel modules that have been completed so far and the entire production process – from the formation of the steel skeleton to the final furnishing of hospital rooms, offices and sanitary facilities.

All modules, including some of the installations and equipment, are pre-assembled in the facility, and then delivered and installed on site – which enables extremely fast and controlled construction. While the modules are being manufactured in Krapina, ING-GRAD is simultaneously performing reinforced concrete works on site: Basement and ground floor levels and the reinforced concrete core, with the elevator shaft and staircase. 3 floors of prefabricated modules are being installed on the completed reinforced concrete ceiling slab of the ground floor. This approach – prefabrication and parallel execution – is unique in Croatia and allows a hospital building of approximately 10,000 m² to be built and equipped in less than 11 months (!).

This model of organization and project management was developed at the initiative of GARK Konzalting, which was fully accepted by the investor. Its implementation is proof that innovative solutions and quality coordination of all participants can result in top efficiency and safe fulfillment of demanding EU deadlines. The success of the project is the result of excellent cooperation of all participants – investors, designers, contractors, supervision and us as project managers. We are proud to be part of this demanding and extremely important project that will create the most modern center for infectious diseases in this part of Europe.
