COMPLETED PROJECT: Demolition of Vjesnik in Zagreb

The demolition of the building Vjesnik building has been completed. After a full 62 years (1964-2026), this Zagreb icon has become history, and our team at GARK Konzalting has provided expert supervision to ensure that all work is carried out safely, thoroughly and responsibly.

The project included:

• removal of the western and eastern annexes of the Vjesnik complex

• protection of Slavonska avenija by installing protective shipping containers and reinforced concrete elements

• removal of the recognizable brown glass facade

• removal of iconic advertisements from the roof – VJESNIK and VEČERNJI LIST

• removal of the 16th and 15th floors by cutting and lowering the elements to the elevations of the surrounding terrain

• mechanical removal of the skyscraper from the 14th floor to the elevation of the surrounding terrain using an excavator with a 52-meter reach arm

• removal and proper disposal of the found asbestos

• sorting and disposal of waste in a legally prescribed manner

• recycling of demolition materials by crushing

• final decoration and securing of the space

However, a part of history remains preserved – the iconic Vjesnik advertisement will be on display in the Zagreb City Museum. We are proud that we participated in this demanding project as a professional supervisor and contributed to its safe and successful completion with our knowledge and experience.
